The Lorax

I went to Eason's school today and read The Lorax by Dr. Seuss. It was cool because they were learning about trees and at the end of class they gave them little trees to plant.

Training Partner

My training partner, Felipe, just came back after a month of traveling. It's good to have him back. We've been working out together for a year and it's worked out real well. I've never had a training partner that I matched up with so well. There's some areas where he pushes me, and others where I can push him. Our training philosophies are similar (because he's such a reasonable and intelligent guy ) and yet we balance each other out. It was nice to workout alone for a while, but I'm glad he's back.

Training Tip: Resistance Bands And Cables

I often see people using the resistance bands, sometimes exclusively it seems. An important thing to remember about resistance bands is that they increase resistance as you increase the range of motion from relaxed to flexed. Usually the range involved in rotating your arm will result in absolutely no resistance in the relaxed range.

My Anniversary

Today is my anniversary. Aviva and I have been married for six years and we've been a couple for 9 years. I'm so grateful that we're together and I never forget it.

We went to the boardwalk with Andrea and then we went out to eat. Eason was at his Babcia and Djiadek's.

Andrea's Birthday Present

Andrea will be turning one year old tomorrow. In the morning I baked her some apple muffins for playgroup. At night Eason and I put together her birthday present so it would be a surprise for tomorrow. We hung out with the Rye Playgroup during the day.

Working-In

I've been working out for about 15 years and I've been a member of many gyms including Printing House, New York Health & Racquet Club, New York Sports Club, and Empire Fitness. In all these places letting someone work in with you between sets was always considering common courtesy.

Fitness history

I recently ran into someone in the gym that I haven't seen since I first moved to Rye about two years ago. He commented on how much bigger I am now then I was then.

That's interesting (to me) because I was about the same size when I was working out in Hoboken.

Blog Ratings by Outbrain

As you can see you can now rate our blogs. I'm using Outbrain for this service.

I highly recommend Outbrain to anyone who is publishing content and wants to be a part of a common effort to reduce information overload. That's what Outbrain does by capitalizing on the collective ratings of others and making educated recommendations. It has the potential to filter out the excess, miscellaneous, trivial news, poorly written content and leave you with only the valuable information you want. In addition, John and the rest of the Outbrain support staff are responsive, intelligent, flexible, and eager to provide a product that meets the demands of their customers.
