Orlando 2013: Animal Kingdom

We were originally went to Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, but when we got there we discovered that our tickets did not allow us access to any Disney Water Parks. So we went to Disney's Animal Kingdom, which we were originally planning on going to the nest day. We visited the Tree of Life.

More pictures below:

First we went to DinoLand U.S.A. where Eason went on Primeval Whirl while Andi went on TriceraTop Spin.

Then we all went on DINOSAUR. It was fun.

The we watched Finding Nemo - The Musical, which may have been the best stage show I saw at Disney.

Then we all went on Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain (even Aviva). It was a very cool roller coaster. Andi got scared, but she said it was fun.

We did the Maharajah Jungle Trek, where the staff was quite rude. We watched Flights of Wonder, which was a very entertaining show. Lots of laughs there. We rode on the Wildlife Express Train, which doesn't really go anywhere, and show anything. We had lunch at Yak and Yeti (Eason had his 3rd burger pattie) before going on the Kali River Rapids.

Then we went on the Kilimanjaro Safaris, which was fun once they got the truck working. When we got to the front of the line the gate doors stopped working and were stuck in an open position. They said that they could allow the truck with the group in front of us to pull out until the gate doors were closed (the gates lined people up into rows corresponding with the rows of seats on the trucks). I assumed this was some mechanical limitation, and that the staff knew what they were doing. However, it turned I out was wrong, and the staff were not that bright. After waiting at least 30 minutes they decided they could just have people take five steps back to the beginning of the gates and allow the truck to depart, making way for the next truck. With all the staff they had standing around doing nothing, they could have had someone guard the end of each gate. But the ride itself was very good. We saw lots of animals pretty close up and the guide was entertaining and informative.

We watched Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade, then we hung around listening to some African music and drinking some African beer.

Finally we saw It's Tough to be a Bug!, which was fun, and the Festival of the Lion King.

Back at the hotel Eason had two sliders (his 4th and 5th burgers).
